One of the most beautiful of our native plants when in bloom, the “Fringe Tree” is covered by feathery panicles of creamy-white blooms before its leaves completely unfurl in early-summer. Female plants produce an attractive dark-blue fruit. In the vernacular, the plant is also called “Grancy Gray Beard” or “Old Man’s Beard.”
